Personally hoped it would've been better than the first movie and with John Boyega(Fin from Star Wars) on the helm as the main protagonist and not Charlie Hunnam I would have thought the movie would be a bit decent, and with all the failures from the first movie thought there would be a bit of an improvement. The CG for the Jaeger battles were fantastic, and as a fan to Mech animes, both Pacific Rim movies does it justice when it comes to that Mech concept. I can definitely taste a little seasoning hints of the Japanese animations Neon Genesis Evangelion, and The Mobile Suit Gundam, and for the producers to show us an easter egg of their inspiration for this movie by giving us a small scene of a GUNDAM UNICORN statue in the background was quite exciting to me.

But....the scripting was just absolutely horrid. Especially by having young actors and children that just cannot act just made me cringe the whole way through the movie. The story wasn't so bad, but it could've been a whole lot better. This movie actually made me appreciate Charlie Hunnam's character from the first Pacific Rim than John Boyega's character here in this movie. Now Boyega wasn't that bad, but with the terrible scripting it made him real cheesy.

Honestly if I had to choose which one I like better it would be the first Pacific Rim. I would only re-watch this if I just wanted to watch the Jaeger battle scenes, but overall I don't think ill be able to sit through the whole movie again.
