Popeye's Chicken Craze Finally Relieved
Okay SO, I finally got my hands on these damn chicken sandwich that every damned, out of their minds people was going nuts over. I wasn't able to catch it on the first wave of craziness earlier this year, but as I was passing by the popeyes near my home I got my hands on these bad boys now, during Popeyes second wave. Gonna straight up say it, Its not what its all hyped up to be. It wasn't bad, its just wasn't "banging," "blew me out of my seat," chicken sandwich. When it comes to chicken, I like that more lighter battered fried chicken, hence like Chicfila and KFC's original recipe. I'm not really too big on Country fried battered chicken, and honestly it didn't have THAT much flavor. The bread that they used was superb, and of course the difference between theres and chicfila is that this one has a special mayonnaise pasted on it(which I do love mayo). But the chicken itself? Wasn't great great. Now there might be a possibility that I might have missed out on the REAL Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, cause I did have a conversation with one of my customers at work that works at Popeyes, and HE said that when they first got em in during the first wave, the company sent ALREADY marinated chicken for the product, which is why they ran out so quickly, cause they couldn't replenish the chicken at the restaurant itself. So once it was gone, it was gone. They couldn't make a new batch. He continued saying that now the restaurants are marinating, battering, and frying at the place itself, so they can meet demand. SOOOOO I am thinking that there might be a good possibility that what I had today wasn't the original, just a poor copy. So, BOOOOO.
