The Rise Of Skywalker Re-Reviewed
MY FIRST REVIEW AFTER WATCHING IT AT THE THEATRE: LINK
So I finally got to see this again and this time at home, slowly, paying attention to the music, the
subtle moments, trying to figure out what
JJ Abrams was trying to strive for(besides fan serving), and with more of a second chance
mindset, and to be frank I actually like this movie. Actually I'm starting to LOVE this
movie. Also I went in this time imagining that the title of this movie was,
"THE RISE OF PALPATINE"(a double meaning), and that these 3 movies has nothing
to do with the "Skywalker" lineage and its really its own stand alone movies.
With that mindset and reconstructive perspective the movie was fabulous. Yes yes
the whole Yoda's "There is another" to the Sith's rule of 2, along with all the other
key lores of the force, etc etc...But if actually watch this as its own 3 series movie and
as they have tried to do was to give us something new, then lets let them have it.
We got something new and fresh, and not more of the same. Yes yes I know
they have implemented a lot of things that looked like the original 3, but its okay to me.
A new lore, a new way. Of course I am still a bit disappointed, but with the change of
mindset that I made(and its not far off because this movie did sideline our
expectation for the Skywalker family and history) it really makes Rey more interesting
and loved. I like the character now more than I have before. And you know what?
I've already watched this 5 times over. 6 times including the time I saw at the theatre.
Oh and the music...if you listen carefully you'll hear all sorts of easter eggs and call backs
Oh and the music...if you listen carefully you'll hear all sorts of easter eggs and call backs
from all the past series. Delving deeper on the new X-Wing fighter design (which I didn't
really like from the start), I have found out that designs of the new X-Wing fighters are the original designs drawn by Ralph McQuarrie. So big plus for that. Now I like the new fighter designs. lol.
So here's my new gradings for "THE RISE OF PALPATINE"
